Move-Out
Junk Removal

When your lease ends Friday, you don't have time for a company that takes three days to return a call. We give you a price before anything moves, and we can usually be there the same day or next morning. Have a hard deadline? Tell us when you book — we plan around it. Need help with apartment building logistics (elevator access, parking)? See our apartment services page.

The Move-Out Timing Window

Most junk removal situations have flexibility. Move-outs don’t. You have a key return date, and everything needs to be out before it.

Here’s how most move-out junk situations actually play out:

1
Notice Given

You have 30 days. Feels like plenty.

2
The Middle Weeks

Boxes packed. Life continuing. The bulky stuff gets deprioritized.

3
Final Week

The couch, the dresser, the 11 bags of things you meant to donate. Still there.

4
Key Return Day

Anything left behind becomes an abandonment charge — typically $150–$400 deducted from your deposit.

What Landlords Charge for Abandoned Items in NC

Most leases in North Carolina include a clause allowing landlords to charge for disposal of items left after move-out. Common figures:

  • Furniture left in unit: $75–$150 per piece to haul
  • Full room of items: $300–$600 disposal fee
  • Mattress disposal (regulated in NC): $50–$75 per mattress
  • Cleaning surcharge if items blocked proper cleaning: Varies by property

These come straight out of your security deposit. Most landlords document with photos before returning any portion.

Booking same-week junk removal before key return is almost always cheaper than the abandonment charge. Call us with your move-out date and we’ll confirm whether we can get there in time.

Why Junk Doctors

Why Customers Choose Us

1

We Work Around Your Lease-End Date, Not Our Schedule

Most junk removal companies give you a booking window. We give you a deadline slot. Tell us when you have to be out — whether that's Friday at noon or next Tuesday before the landlord walkthrough — and we build our schedule around that. We do hundreds of move-out jobs across Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro every year. We know what a hard deadline looks like, and we don't treat it like a soft preference.

2

Price Before We Touch Anything

The number we give you before we start is the number on your invoice. No revision when the crew gets there and 'sees the situation.' We walk the unit, quote the job, you approve — then we load. A typical studio or one-bedroom with furniture and appliances runs $200–$500. A two- or three-bedroom full unit runs $400–$900. We'll give you an exact number on the spot.

3

Same-Day and Next-Morning Availability

Call before noon and we can often be there the same afternoon. Call in the morning and we're usually on-site by the next day. We serve Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Greensboro, and surrounding areas. Availability varies by location — call to check your specific window. If you're a week out, you can also book online and lock in your slot.

4

You Don't Have to Be There the Whole Time

Many of our move-out customers drop a key at the office, give us the unit number, and check back in when we're done. We text you when we arrive, confirm what we're taking, and send a photo of the cleared unit when we finish. If there's a lock box or property manager who can let us in, that works too. You don't have to stand in an empty apartment watching us load furniture.

FAQ

Questions Answered.

Pricing is based on volume — how much truck space your items take up. A studio or one-bedroom with furniture and appliances typically runs $200–$500. A two- or three-bedroom full unit runs $400–$900. We give you an exact price after walking the unit — before anything gets loaded. No revisions after the fact.
Call before noon and we can usually be there the same afternoon. Call in the morning and we're typically on-site the next day. If you have a hard deadline — lease ending Friday, landlord walkthrough Tuesday — tell us when you book and we'll confirm we can hit it before you commit.
No. Many customers leave a key, give us the unit number, and let us work independently. We text when we arrive, confirm what we're hauling, and send a cleared-unit photo when done. If a property manager can provide access, that works too.
Book the appointment and decide as we go. Tell us when we arrive what you're taking with you — we work around your keep pile. We won't load anything you haven't confirmed. If you change your mind on something mid-job, just say so.
We take everything in the unit you're leaving — furniture, appliances, boxes, bags, random items in corners. We don't refuse based on size or condition. The only exceptions are hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, propane tanks), which we can advise on separately.
Yes. We do apartment move-outs regularly across NC. If your building has elevator reservation requirements, parking restrictions, or specific haul-out hours, let us know when you book and we'll coordinate with building management. See our [apartment services page](/what-we-take/apartment-services/) for more on apartment-specific logistics.
Call us before the walkthrough, not after. We can often be there the same day or next morning. Getting us in before the landlord inspection is the fastest way to avoid per-item abandonment charges. Tell us your inspection time when you book.
Yes — if you're a landlord or property manager dealing with a tenant who left belongings behind, that's a separate service with its own workflow. See our [landlord cleanout page](/what-we-take/landlord-cleanout/) for how we handle unit turnovers and tenant move-outs from the owner's side.
We serve Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Garner, and Morrisville in the Triangle — plus Charlotte, Concord, and Gastonia in the Charlotte area, and Greensboro and surrounding areas. Same-day availability varies by crew schedule. Call to check your specific area and date.
