What Gets Recycled — and What Doesn't

NC state law prohibits certain electronics from landfills. Here's an honest breakdown of where things go.

♻ Certified Recyclers — where accepted
  • Computers and laptops
  • Monitors (CRT and flat screen)
  • TVs (LCD, plasma, CRT)
  • Printers and copiers
  • Cell phones and tablets
  • Keyboards, mice, cables
✗ Not accepted by most recyclers
  • Broken CRT screens (hazmat)
  • Alkaline batteries (separate dropoff)
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fluorescent tubes (mercury)
  • Fire extinguishers
NC E-Waste Law — quick summary
North Carolina prohibits computers, monitors, and televisions from solid waste disposal facilities. These are covered under the NC E-Cycles program. We route qualifying electronics to certified collectors — where accepted. Items the NC program doesn't cover go through the best available disposal path.

Why Junk Doctors

Why Customers Choose Us

1

Same-Day or It's Free

Call before 3 PM and we'll be there today. Electronics pile up fast — a home office cleanout or a storage room full of old tech can be gone the same day you decide to clear it.

2

Upfront Pricing Before We Start

You see the price before we load anything. Electronics recycling is priced by volume like all our jobs. One laptop is a different conversation than a rack of old servers — we'll quote accurately before we start.

3

Certified Recyclers Handle Everything

We partner with certified local e-waste recyclers who process every item properly. Lead, mercury, cadmium — the hazardous materials inside old electronics get handled by people licensed to do it. Every load gets documented through proper channels, not dropped at a general landfill.

4

We Handle the Hard Stuff Too

CRT monitors, old TVs, and plasma screens are heavy and difficult to dispose of. Most people can't get rid of them through normal channels. We take them and route them to the right recycler — no drop-off required on your end.

FAQ

Questions Answered.

Electronics contain hazardous materials — lead, mercury, cadmium — that require certified processing. You can't throw a CRT monitor or old laptop in a dumpster and call it handled. We route everything to certified e-waste recyclers who process these materials properly, not to a general landfill.
No. Data destruction is not a service we provide. Before we pick up any device with stored data, you should wipe it yourself using factory reset options or data-wiping software. For higher-security situations, physically destroying the hard drive is the most reliable option. We pick up the device after that step is done.
Electronics are priced by volume like everything else we haul. There's no separate electronics surcharge on top of the base job price. What you see in the quote is what you pay.
Electronics contain hazardous materials that require careful handling. Where available, we work with certified local e-waste facilities for responsible disposal — though disposal methods can vary by location and material type.
Yes. Office equipment, server rooms, and commercial e-waste clearouts are jobs we handle regularly. If you're upgrading infrastructure or clearing out old technology, we can schedule a commercial pickup.
